Horse Riding Camps:
Horse riding is everybody's dream, but few
actually get to do it. Here's a chance for cityfolks
to go galloping... galloping... as in cowboy movies.
This is straight from the horses' mouth: Kochi is to
have a horse riding club, the first in the State, come
mid- August. As the rains recede in the coming months,
and fair weather takes over, the horses will walk, trot,
canter and gallop at the new course of the horse-riding
club. Now functioning informally in the open green lands
of North Paravoor, the club is to shift to a more accessible
location at Kathrikadavu, off M.G. Road, and with the
advent of `Chingam', equestrian adventure comes galloping
home to city folks.
We have to educate the
people about horses. When kids come they are so excited
about riding a horse that they tend to misuse the animal.
There are four stages to horse riding that we will take
the learners through. Beginning with familiarisation
with the horse, with riding equipment like saddle, stirrup,
reins, bridle and the riding ring, the children will
learn to mount, dismount, practise various gaits with
confidence to finally enjoying this sport. The military
camp at Thrissur has promised to help in the club by
sending retired staff to train and for fortnightly changing
of the horseshoes. We are planning a basic two-weeks
course or a longer one spread over the weekends,"
informs Francis. Find out more about Horse Riding Camps.

the State headquarters, Bangalore. It is the erstwhile
capital of the Mysore Maharajas, who ruled Mysore State
from this royal city, for several centuries. Thanks
to royal patronage, artists, writers and craftsmen have
flourished in Mysore, making it the cultural epicentre
of Karnataka.Mysore still retains an aura of old world
charm and much of the city's architectural heritage
remains intact. The city's proximity to famous wild
life sanctuaries and its very own zoo make it a popular
destination for wildlife enthusiasts from across the
